At Earlscliffe, we take immense pride in the journeys of our alumni, and few stories capture the spirit of our community more than that of Mike.
After achieving an outstanding four A*s at A level during his time at Earlscliffe, Mike has gone on to pursue an exceptional academic path. He earned a BSc in Statistics from University College London, followed by a Master’s degree in Statistics at the University of Oxford, and is now completing his doctorate in Statistics at the University of Cambridge.
Last week, we were delighted to welcome Mike back to campus. His visit carried special significance, as he introduced Oliver, a new student who has just begun his Earlscliffe journey this term. Oliver is joining us for a term of Pre A-Level to focus on English language proficiency, and then will be fully prepared to move into A Level subjects from January to study Maths, Economics and Politics.
Oliver is already settling in well, sharing: “I am enjoying the opportunity to combine sport with studies, especially basketball and fitness. One of the things that attracted me to Earlscliffe was the basketball academy. Earlscliffe has a spacious campus and good food! The teachers are very friendly too!”
During his visit on Friday, Mike spent time catching up with his former teachers, Mr Johnson, Mr Goldmann, Miss Boyle, and Mr Tattum, who was the School Manager during his time here. Naturally, no trip back to Folkestone would be complete without a stroll along the beach, especially on such a sunny day!
Earlscliffe connections remain strong over time, despite Mike leaving in 2016, Earlscliffe founders Tim & Julie Fish have stayed in contact with his mother. Whilst Tim has progressed to CEO of Dukes Education, Earlscliffe remains close to his heart.
Mike’s story is an inspiring reminder to all our students of where hard work, ambition, and the Earlscliffe spirit can take you!
