Two lucky Earlscliffe students swapped Folkestone for the Swiss Alps, travelling to Verbier to take part in the annual Dukes Renaissance Scholars Symposium a flagship event bringing together students and staff from across the Dukes Education family of schools.
Gal and Funmi, accompanied by Miss Donaldson, joined peers from Verbier International School (VIS) and other Dukes colleges for two days of adventure, learning and friendship, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Alps.
Hosted by VIS, the symposium offered a packed programme of mountain hikes, leadership challenges, music and an open-mic evening, alongside a traditional Swiss fondue and a barbecue dinner under the stars.
Students also took part in group research projects exploring the theme of “change” examining how Verbier’s stunning natural landscape has evolved over time.
Reflecting on the trip, Gal, recently announced as Earlscliffe’s Head Boy for the coming academic year, described it as a highlight of his time at the college so far. “The trip was a wonderful and memorable experience that allowed me to learn new things, build new friendships, and create unforgettable memories that will stay with me forever.” Opportunities like this are one of the many advantages Earlscliffe students enjoy as part of the wider Dukes Education group. From international symposiums and shared learning experiences to lasting friendships with peers from other Dukes schools around the world, being part of this family opens doors that go far beyond the classroom. Congratulations to Gal and Funmi for representing Earlscliffe so brilliantly, and thanks to Verbier International School and Dukes Education for hosting such an inspiring event. The benefits of being part of the Dukes Education family
