Chemistry Open Lab

Posted: 27th November 2023

At Earlscliffe we love to engage with our local community in to experience our school. Ultimately there is no better way to do this than to invite them into a lesson.

Our Head of Science, Robert Goldmann, ably assisted by our A-Level Chemistry students opened up their lab on Saturday 25 November. This outreach programme is endorsed by the Royal Society of Chemistry. It aims to celebrate Chemistry whilst inspiring students using hands-on activities.

This year’s theme was ‘Colour’ and students and guests work together on some specially selected experiments. Each session is just long enough to excite and entertain and therefore can be mutually appreciated by all ages.

Guest Jo brought her daughters. She said “It was all done very professionally.  The colour theme this year worked really well.  The lab coat and the goggles made it very real. Robert’s assistants were brilliant. In short, My daughters walked away with a lovely memory of Earlscliffe!”

Robert Goldmann expressed his joy to once again be able to share science with the wider community following the limitations of covid. Although his love of Chemistry was evident it was the passion of the students that shone through.
