Global Citizens: Welcoming 34 Nationalities to Earlscliffe

Posted: 9th September 2025

We are thrilled to begin the new academic year at Earlscliffe by welcoming our new cohort of global citizens, comprising 34 nationalities.

This marks an exciting milestone in the story of our school, as our campus grows ever more international and vibrant.

The first few days of term have been a true celebration of global friendship. It has been inspiring to watch students from across the world (now representing over 34 countries) come together with ease.

Our returning students set the tone, greeting new arrivals with genuine warmth, guiding them through the school, and helping them settle into their boarding houses. This spirit of inclusivity is at the heart of what makes Earlscliffe a true home-from-home.

We are dedicated to ensuring genuine diversity.

Our policy of welcoming no more than 15% of any single nationality means that no group dominates, allowing all voices to be heard and celebrated. This balance is also reflected in our boarding arrangements, where careful rooming allocations ensure students do not share with someone who speaks the same first language. This helps everyone improve their communication skills in English, while building authentic friendships across cultures.

Beyond academics, these early days highlight one of the greatest benefits of an international education: the chance to learn from each other. In a world that is increasingly connected, building friendships across cultures and strengthening communication skills is more valuable than ever.

To help foster these connections, Mr Scargill kicked things off with lively activities such as ‘human bingo’ and cultural quizzes, while Miss Day organised an adventurous scavenger hunt through Folkestone. Students discovered the town’s public art, diverse restaurants, essential local spots, and finally gathered at The Goods Yard for ice cream.

With 34 new nationalities enriching our community, we look forward to a year of cultural exchange, personal growth, and unforgettable experiences. We are excited to see all that these students will achieve over the coming years, with plenty more success stories to share.
