Visit to Royal Holloway, University of London

Posted: 3rd March 2026

Earlscliffe’s Year 12 students recently took an important step towards their future university ambitions with an inspiring visit to Royal Holloway, University of London.

The trip was organised by Anna Burkett, Senior Tutor for Year 12, and forms a key part of the Earlscliffe Career Institute programme, which is dedicated to preparing international students for entry to top universities in the UK or abroad.

Set in 135 acres of stunning green space, students were warmly welcomed by knowledgeable student ambassadors who delivered an engaging and informative campus tour.

Discovering Campus Life

During the visit, students explored many of the facilities that shape the undergraduate experience, including:

  • Outstanding sports facilities
  • The modern and well-resourced library
  • The iconic Founder’s Building — the architectural centrepiece of the campus and a highlight of the day

Beyond the impressive buildings, students gained valuable insight into the university’s rich history, academic strengths and vibrant student community. Discussions covered accommodation options, student societies, academic expectations and the pastoral support available, all crucial considerations for international students planning to study abroad.

Why Royal Holloway?

Royal Holloway represents an excellent option for many Earlscliffe students for several reasons:

  • Location: Close proximity to Heathrow Airport and within easy reach of central London, offering access to global opportunities.
  • Campus-based environment: A secure, self-contained campus that provides independence within a safe and supportive setting.
  • Strong academic reputation: A respected member of the University of London federation, known for high-quality teaching and research.

For our internationally minded cohort, the combination of academic excellence, connectivity and campus setting makes it a particularly attractive choice.

Supporting Ambition Through the Career Institute

This visit forms part of Earlscliffe’s Career Institute, an integral element of our Sixth Form programme. The Career Institute equips students with the knowledge, confidence and strategic guidance needed to secure places at leading universities. From university visits and subject exploration to application preparation and interview coaching, students are supported at every stage of the journey.

Experiencing the atmosphere of a UK campus university first-hand is an essential step in helping students visualise their next stage of education. Opportunities such as this, especially during National Careers Week, reinforce the importance of informed decision-making and thoughtful planning for the future.
