🌍 Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders at Our COP29 Simulation 🌍

Posted: 12th December 2024

An inspiring group of Year 12 and 13 students from Earlscliffe joined forces with sixth-formers from The Harvey Grammar School to take part in an immersive COP29 simulation. The event, held at the United Reformed Church in Folkestone, was a hub of energy, ideas, and impactful learning.

This unique experience brought together young minds from Politics and Geography courses, enabling them to grapple with some of the most pressing global environmental challenges of our time. Students explored critical issues like carbon emissions and renewable energy transitions, bringing fresh perspectives to the table.

We were honored to welcome Tony Vaughan MP, Labour MP for Folkestone & Hythe, who officially opened the day with an insightful speech. He shared personal experiences about policymaking and emphasised the critical role of youth in driving climate action.

Throughout the day, students stepped into the roles of world leaders, negotiators, and policymakers. This exercise sharpened their understanding of diplomacy, sustainability, and global cooperation. Such events reflect our commitment to fostering critical thinking, leadership, and a passion for social responsibility in our students.

🌟 A big thank you to everyone who made this event possible, in particular Miss Cox and Mr Hulse, as well as staff from the Harvey Grammar School and a special shoutout to all students for their hard work, creativity, and vision. The future is in great hands! 🌱
