Exceptional Seaside Location
Earlscliffe is located in Folkestone on the South East coast of England, overlooking the English Channel. On clear days, France is visible just 40 km away, reflecting the school’s strong international outlook.
The school sits in Folkestone’s elegant West End, a short walk from the sea and the clifftop promenade known as The Leas, a few minutes’ walk from our school buildings. The clifftop pathway has retained a traditional Victorian elegance, with large gardens on either side. At the start of the 20th century, Folkestone was a popular holiday destination among royalty and the British elite. Agatha Christie wrote ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ from the Grand Hotel and King Edward VII was often in residence with his mistress, Alice Keppel. The Leas is a popular location for events throughout the summer, with easy access to beaches, coastal paths and outdoor activities such as paddle-boarding and sailing.
The nearby Folkestone Harbour Arm offers cafés, restaurants and entertainment, including crazy golf and an outdoor cinema, while the town’s Creative Quarter is known for its independent galleries, studios and vibrant cultural life.
In 2024, Folkestone was named ‘Best Place to Live in the South East’ by The Times.
