Ms E Crowe

Position:
House Manager

El brings six years of boarding experience, along with two of the sector’s most respected professional qualifications: the BSA Advanced Certificate in Boarding Practice and the BSA Diploma in Boarding Practice (Boarding Management). That combination of hands-on experience and formal training gives her a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to run a boarding house that genuinely works — not just as a place to sleep, but as a community students actually want to be part of.

I try to make the house feel as relaxed and welcoming as possible — somewhere students feel comfortable, supported, and able to be themselves. The atmosphere is friendly, down-to-earth, and it really does feel like a home away from home.

The thing El values most about her role is the slow work: getting to know each student individually, and watching them find their footing and grow in confidence as the year progresses. Her instinct is to keep things simple — a movie night, a relaxed house evening, an easy excuse to be together. It is in those unforced moments that a house community tends to really take shape.

Outside the house, El is a serious rugby player. She currently plays for Canterbury Women’s and has previously captained the Ashford side, a role she speaks about with evident pride. The discipline, teamwork and commitment that sport demands are values she carries back into her boarding house.
